The Valley Intermediate Hockey League operated under the authority of the Maritimes Amateur Hockey Association (MAHA) and the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association (CAHA). Its teams were eligible for the Maritimes Intermediate Championship. This league was centered in north-central Nova Scotia. The main member teams came from Kentville, Wolfville, and Windsor. It had previously been a senior league until that league disbanded in 1955. In one season, 1942-43, the league operated as an intermediate league. This league started up in 1956-57.
