In Wonderland Secret Worlds, Gold Stars are usually blocked off by white gates that require a certain amount of Key Coins to get collected in order to get the white gate to open. In Wonderland Adventures game series, gold stars are also sometimes needed to be opened by gates which will unlock other areas, but in a level you don't need to get a certain amount of coins to get to a Gold Star to finish a level.
