James Tiberius Kirk is the protagonist of the 2009 film Star Trek and its 2013 sequel Star Trek Into Darkness, both of which take place in an alternate reality created by the time-travelling villain Nero. His commanding officer is Spock, one of 10,000 survivors of the destroyed planet Vulcan. He is played by Chris Pine, who also voiced Jack Frost in Rise of the Guardians.
