Obler was the owner of Sorrowman's Hostel in Lamentable Moll. A onetime loan shark, he claimed to earn a living running the hostel and providing scribing services on the side. Obler was a bent, thin old man whose fingertips and tongue were stained black by the ink associated with his profession. He was a worshipper of D'rek and kept a mass of writhing worms in a bowl of blood within a shrine in his hostel.
