Some fans were angered by his merger of terms from both the Star Wars and Star Trek universes, while others, including Lynne Hale, pointed to an article on Wookieepedia depicting the existence of a Jedi meld. An alternate name of the Force meld is indeed found to be the "Jedi meld," as mentioned in Jedi vs. Sith: The Essential Guide to the Force. After some consideration, noting the popularity of the term, Lucasfilm declared that the Jedi mind meld was a canonical variant of the Force meld, and would appear in the newest film for release, Star Wars Episode VII: Star Trek. Possible scenes may incorporate the meld between Spock and the Solo children.
