Miisai was an an ancient art form whereby a small tree was kept inside a pot and the branches trimmed to control and shape the growth of the trees. In about 18 BBY, the Gray Paladin Laranth Tarak gave a centuries-old miisai tree to the Jedi Knight Jax Pavan as a gift, and Pavan learned how to perform miisai through application of the Force, to influence the tree's development. After Tarak died during an encounter with the Sith Lord Darth Vader, Pavan kept is miisai tree with him as a memento of Tarak.
