Ikt Messix was a male Mustafarian who served as a commander in the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars, and later in the Alliance to Restore the Republic. A native of the volcanic planet of Mustafar, he joined the Confederate Navy in 21 BBY when the Galactic Republic attempted to destroy a Separatist stronghold on his homeworld. He managed to successfully narass the advancing clone troopers using various methods, killing many, allowing the CIS frigate in orbit to destroy the Star Destroyer and deploy defense forces. His tactical skill was noted by the ground force leader, Arguss Zolghast, and he asked the Mustafarian to join the Navy, specifically the crew of the Munificent.
