HMCS Border Cities (J344) was an Algerine-class minesweeper that served in the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II. The Algerine Coastal Escort, HMCS BORDER CITIES, served in the last years of the Second World War in the indispensable work of guarding valuable ocean convoys while they were passing through the highly vulnerable areas of North American waters. Again, compared to the “Bangor”, the “Algerine” was a longer ship by 45 feet and it had over 1,500 miles greater endurance at 12 knots. It could therefore carry more men and equipment and had a longer range.
