Narihari was the keeper of an inn near the Crab village of Settan. During three generations his family had serviced the roadside hostel. Narihari, like his father and grandfather, occasionally murdered those who would not be missed and buried their bodies in the hills nearby. Being a bloodspeaker he could use the corpses if necessary. In 1166, when Iuchiban called their servants to strike out the Empire in a wave of murder, betrayal, and destruction, Narihari raised the buried, and sent the undead against Settan.
