The Radio Announcer was a newsreader who was listened to by the anxious residents when they decamped to the New Old Inn following the fire at the Mark Brittain Warehouse and the evacuation of the Street in October 1975. With a few people still unaccounted for, the residents hoped the newscast would set their minds at ease but it didn't reveal any new information.
