The Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon occurs when a person, after having learned some fact, word, or phrase, or otherwise become aware of some piece of information for the first time, encounters that item again, perhaps several times, shortly after having learned it. An example would be if an individual learns a new word that was previously unknown to him, and then, shortly after hearing it for the first time, encounters again in a conversation later that day and then, while watching TV later that same day, hears it used again, even though before having learned it earlier that day the individual cannot recall ever having heard the word previously.
