When Terra escaped her flesh and blood body in Kierkan's lair, her essence floated through a vent to the streets of San Francisco. As the businessman was walking down the street, talking on his cellphone, he was possessed by Terra. The businessman's spirit was trapped as a reflection from then on, until Terra stabbed his body in order to then possess Piper Halliwell after using him to locate her. Kierkan then brought the man back to life in an attempt to find Terra's location and goal before rendering him dead permanently.
