The United States is a largely agrarian nation. Although physically large, it is not powerful nor does it interfere in world affairs, similar to China and Japan. This isolationist status was declared by President Jimmy Carter in 1977 as repentance for the two Afro-American Wars and the presidencies of Strom Thurmond, Richard Nixon, and Spiro Agnew.
