Thanis was a great sculptor from Volos. He had a daughter named Daniella. Once, to get revenge against Daniella for spurning his advances, Proteus took the form of Thanis and committed a theft against Trilos. The real Thanis was caught and convicted of the crime. He was sentenced to have his hands cut off which would have ended his life as an artist. Luckily, Hercules and Iolaus were able to reveal Proteus as the real thief and in appreciation, Thanis planned to carve two large statues as tributes to the heroes.
