The architecture of Citadel City bears a strong similarity to that of Cortex Castle in Crash Bandicoot. It is also possible that a link between Citadel City and Cortex Castle may exist due to the Neo Cortex Airship which can be seen from a ledge within Citadel City. Or, Citadel City itself was an abandoned castle from the medieval era during Crash Bandicoot: Warped.
