It was in the derg regim( 1968_1995)that the ministry of Information staff members together with Ethiopian Radio and Television agency workers started to form a football team. When the team was formed officialy and started its competitions, some famous names in the Ethiopian Media like Solomon Gebre Egziabher and Alemu Mekonen were among the members of the team who become city champions in 1988.The activities of the footbal club were not running for nearly adecade, because of financial and staff reasons. But in 2008 November, the team was reestablished by Yonas Hailemeskel, a sport journalist in ETV and other staff members of the sport department.
