Jmes Biggs Porter (1843-1921) was a barrister and local politician. The son of James Browning Porter, a grocer, he was born in Somerset. In 1884 he was admitted to the freedom of the City of London and was a member of the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers. He settled in London and was called to the bar at the Inner Temple in 1874. He married Rosina Louisa Houston in Yorkshire in 1879. He sat as a Moderate Party member of the London County Council representing Kensington North from 1895-1901.
