Field Marshall Douglas Haig is portrayed by Geoffrey Palmer in the final episode of Blackadder Goes Forth. He is mentioned throughout the series and in the final episode "Goodbyeee...", Captain Blackadder phones him on advice on how to get out of the trenches before the final push as a return favour for saving his life previously. Haig tells Blackadder to try an old trick from the Sudan which Blackadder had already tried and failed.
