American Wasteland is a 2014 American drama film directed and co-written by Michael Oblowitz, produced by Nick Cassavetes and Sidney Kimmel and co-written by Caroline Riley. It is loosely based on the aftermath of the 1998 murder of Matthew Shepard and stars Channing Tatum, Shia LaBeouf, Ryan Donowho, Taylor Cole, Ben Foster, Angie Stevenson, Toby Hemingway, Rumer Willis, Anton Yelchin, Pete L. J. Dickson, Angela Sarafyan, and Danielle Alonso. The film was released in the United States on July 11, 2014 by Universal Pictures.
