Symbolism and complex figures of speech sometimes confuse readers. This an lead them to not have a full understanding of what they are reading. Literature can be extremely difficult to understand at times, while, at other times, it is amazingly easy. Sometimes we might think that we fully understand something, but we really don't. So, what can we consider a full understanding of literature? In many instances, the author may be the only one that has a full understanding of the work. Sometimes, though, the author may not even know it all.
