Raynard Waits was an alias created by Robert Foxworth in May of 1992 following the murder of Daniel Fitzpatrick. The first name was derived on Foxworth's surname at birth, refering to the medieval character of Reynard, an anthropomorphic red fox and trickster figure. The last name Waits, then, created a pun out of the name meaning "the fox waits."
