Constantine, Duke of Izmir, foremrly known as Constantine I of Greco Turkey (2 June 1940) was King of Greco-Turkey from 1964 until the establishment of the republic in 1986. He married Princess Antonia of Europa in 1966 and they had three children: The future Queen Ioanna (1966), Princess Demetra of Greco-Turkey (1969) and Princess Melina of Greco-Turkey (1973). In 1986 he was deposed in a coup by conservative republicans. This was partially caused by the fact that the king had no male heirs, and that he interfered too much in politics. In 1991 his daughter Ioanna had a son, Prince Paul. By the late 1990s democracy had been restored to the GTR and there were many who support the return of the monarchy.
