Arpel, born Arpel Deriada, was daughter and youngest child of Patrev and Leoit. Her elder sister was G'ye; her twin brother Alabri was born only one minute before her. In 803 BBY, Arpel was jilted by her fiance, Orilio Deriada, the son of a Deriada chieftainess. She hunted Orilio down and used the dark side to rupture his aorta; Arpel displayed the greatest abilities of telekinesis of the three siblings. As a result, she swore herself off men altogether, although she maintained a soft spot for her twin. To hone her skills with the bone, she would hunt Deriada men through the forests.
