Billy Anderson was a pinch-runner for the Boston Red Sox from 1951 to 1958. Anderson got injured in a play-at-the-plate in the Opening Day game against the New Jersey Titans on 16 April 1957 when he collided with William Blakely, nicking and stretching his Achilles tendon. He didn't play again until 1958, and then was released halfway through the season; he was unable to sign with another team after that.
