Victims of this spell (officially a hex, but often called a jynx) will still be able to detect generally where light is coming from, since people can sense that with their eyes closed, but that would be about it. In one of Qura's fights against a rogue mage, her opponent casts this spell on her before proceeding to take her captive. Since she is rendered unable to blink her eyes, she is unable to teleport to freedom.
