Robert Ludlum created the original trilogy of spy novels based around Jason Bourne (David Webb). These were "The Bourne Identity", "The Bourne Supremacy" and "The Bourne Ultimatum". The original novel was adapated to movies twice, once as a telemovie, and once as a feature film. The other two novels, have also been adapted to film, starting a successful film franchise with highly positive reviews from critics. The novels involve an opposing superspy terrorist, and the CIA betrayal theme of the first novel is less evident, whereas the feature films focus on CIA betrayal.
