Green Elephants were magical creatures summoned by Mombi to conquer the Emerald City. All the inhabitants of Oz, even Glinda and the Cowardly Lion were afraid to fight them. They were finally scared away by Field Mice. When Mombi was defeated, all the elephants disappeared. (Journey Back to Oz)
