Chatterji was a Solarian citizen and an officer of the Solarian League Marine Corps. Holding the rank of Captain, he served as the commanding officer of Bravo Company, Second Battalion, 887th Solarian Marines Regiment. He was placed on indefinite medical furlough for the treatment of severe combat injuries during the late 1910s PD. Lieutenant Thandi Palane took over as acting CO. (CS1)
