Cocoon pods were transportation capsules used to distribute MT-AT walkers, and most probably other vehicles as well. The pod contained a droid brain to help control its descent, and the walker—or whatever it was containing—would be encased in a protective gel-like substance. This method of deployment was similar to that of Viper probe droids.
