The ISD was first formed shortly after the formation of the Necasian Military, and it initially took on the task of tracking down and eliminating known collaborators with the Rakata, before moving on to 'internal threats'. Officially, the head of ISD was the leader of the Necasians, although the task of managing it was usually delegated. Following the war, ISD was incorporated into the secret police of the United Coalition of Worlds, performing more or less the same tasks as before, albeit with more leniency and less prejudiced.
