The Mekar Wilderness is an arid highland area on Cardassia. The climate is hot and the region is characterised by beautiful rock formations and an extensive network of subterranean caverns. The area is almost completely devoid of artificial construction. Adjacent to the wilderness you can find the Bamarren Institute for State Intelligence which used the wilderness's tough environment to test their students physical endurance.
