Cecil Arthur Lewis MC (29 March 1898 — 27 January 1997) was a British fighter pilot who flew in World War I. He went on to co-found the BBC and enjoy a long career as a writer, notably of the aviation classic Sagittarius Rising (inspiration for the movie Aces High). Through his friend, the Russian singer Vladimir Rosing, Lewis met the artist Charles Ricketts, who became his artistic mentor and sponsor. After Rickett's death, Lewis edited his letters and journals for publication. He was the last surviving British World War I ace.
