The USS Mugato (NCC-3300) was the lead ship and prototype of the Mugato-class corvettes that were commissioned in 2285 at the beginning of the Kelvan War. (Orion Press: In Harm's Way) In 2294, Mugato's commanding officer was Lieutenant Commander Lesotho. That year, it was attacked by a Tholian cruiser. During the attack, Lieutenant Rathan, the Vulcan science officer, seemed to be paralyzed by his fears, and Lesotho had Rathan transferred off the ship. (Orion Press: Chekov's Enterprise)
