The double stripe was developed as one way to differentiate the many clone troopers introduced in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series. The hairstyle was first seen in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars film, but not named until the Decoded airing of the ninth episode in the series, Cloak of Darkness.
