Voting is a rite of passage for users. It gives them much more say and influence in wiki activity. These guidelines are to ensure that all votes are concise, simple, and organized. All a user requires to obtain voting rights is 100 mainspace edits (this is lowered to fifty (50) until October 12, 2010). Those edits must not be entirely minor edits. The reason for the mainspace edit requirements is so that a user is not able to use sockpuppets to rig votes.
