Figs' culture is entirely based around the worthlessness of Figs, and how they're undeserving of any sort of good or pleasure for their selves. Their entire existance is to serve the Giant Mouth, for which they serve as food. Figs will actively avoid success, happiness, escape from bad situations, potential friends, potential allies, useful items (unless they help the Fig to defeat itself somehow), and freedom, because they don't deserve any of those things.
