The story is set on the years 1559-1560. The ganins are used by Clan leaders to help in conflicts. The Kagero Clan and Gama Clan trained the dogs at first and then gave them helmets containing a needle tipped with a special type of poison which makes the dogs' brains evolve. The dogd become more intelligent and thus able to wield weapons and wear armors. The ganins also got many other mysterious and supernatural powers. They're known of being able to talk, control human minds and telepathy. Ganins are expected to use their powers wisely and be extremely loyal to their masters.
