As lightweight "space age" materials become relatively inexpensive, coupled with advanced computing power it will be very possible to "privately" travel to the moon. The space program of the 50's, 60's and 70's was created from a slide rule. The space program of the 80's and 90's from seemingly small mainframe computers compared to today's super computing power. Theoretically speaking, a small room complimented with a few PC's, flat screen monitors and the internet could serve as "Mission Control". Expect a lunar travel agency between 2012 and 2020.
