USS Niwen (NCC-2306) was a Chandley-class heavy frigate on active duty in Starfleet during the late 23rd century. The initial bloc of these ships were commissioned in the 2270s. The ship was named after Admiral Abel Niwen, commanding officer of the Sixth Terran Fleet when it made first contact with the Tellarites. On stardate 8347.6, Niwen was commanded by Commodore Michael A. Pollard and was on routine patrol duty along the Romulan Neutral Zone. (FASA RPG: Where Has All The Glory Gone?)
