Formerly a 22 year veteran of the Union Fleet, Rodney is a retired Commander. His last assignment was Chief Medical Officer aboard the Versailles. Currently he serves as the head of the Kanter's Hope, a La Terran vessel dedicated to providing medical assistance to the Orion Arm. A known worshiper of Midori Kanter, and also known for his rather substantial ego. Another noteworthy aspect is that Rodney Hewl is almost never referred to as 'Captain', but is often referred to as 'Doctor' or 'Commander' by his subordinates.
