Seed AI is a form of artificial intelligence designed to be able to understand and improve upon its own design, thus creating a smarter seed AI even more able to improve itself, and so on. This sort of open-ended self-improvement, it is hoped, will create the super-human intelligence necessary to begin the Singularity.
