Shobna Gulati (born 7th August, 1966 in Oldham) is an English actress who played Sunita Alahan in Coronation Street. Shobna's original stint as the character lasted from 2001 until her axing in 2006, but she returned again in late 2009. In 2012 Shobna had quit the role, and the character was killed off in 2013. Prior to her spell in the Street she played Anita in Victoria Wood's series Dinnerladies prior to which she was a dance teacher, and in a 2006 absence from the programme she played Nisha Clayton in Where the Heart Is.
