If the cake hat is destroyed, it cannot be reclaimed. It is possible to use the cake hat on another player to give it to them, however this makes it impossible for the original player to reclaim it. Using a glass of bubbly on a player with a Cake hat will give the option to perform the "Congratulation" animation. Also, it cannot be kept, not even Keepsaked.
