In January 1982, Fred Gee was invited at the last minute to attend a banquet laid on by Newton & Ridley when a place became free and proceeded to get paralytic. As well as dancing drunkenly with Sarah Ridley and ordering a new car from a fellow diner and offering a job in his "Restaurant" to Phyllis Lomax, he also ordered a space invaders machine for the Rovers.
