Spontaneous Events in Need for Speed (2015) are player versus player events that can be triggered in free roam with either an AI driver or another player in the current multiplayer session. A Spontaneous Event can be offered against an AI driver by matching their speed for a short period of time with an AI driver that is cruising in free roam, and waiting for a prompt to appear to challenge them. Successfully challenging an AI driver will allow the challenger to start one of three highlighted event types.
