Philip Toll "Phil" Hill, Jr. (born April 20, 1927 in Miami, Florida – died August 28, 2008 in Salinas, California) was an American racing driver who drove in Formula One in the 1950's and 1960's and is the only American-born driver to win the World Championship, which he did in 1961. Mario Andretti is the only other American Champion, but he was born in what was then Italy. __TOC__
