The Class J cargo ship was a small cargo ship design used in the 2260s. It lacked the speed necessary to outrun a Constitution-class starship. In 2266, Harcourt Fenton Mudd possessed an unregistered ship of this type, which was destroyed in an asteroid belt while pursued by the Enterprise. (TOS episode: "Mudd's Women")
