Wheel of Fortune hostesses Vanna White and The Guber-Peters Company launched Project Game Channel in September 25, 1987, showing 30,000 half hours of game show programming from Columbia Pictures Television, Merv Griffin Enterprises, Mark Goodson-Bill Todman Productions, Barris Industries, Republic Pictures, NBC Enterprises, Barry & Enright Productions, Stewart Tele Enterprises and Ralph Edwards Productions. In November 9, 1989, Sony Corporation of America acquired Guber-Peters Entertainment Company (including Project Game Channel).
