Barkstripe was the husband of Bella of Brockhall, the father of Sunflash the Mace, son-in-law of Boar the Fighter, ancestor of Rawnblade Widestripe and a Mossflower farmer. He met Bella in the southeast, and they lived peacefully in Brockhall until Verdauga Greeneyes began his conquest. After Boar the Fighter left Mossflower for Salamandastron, Barkstripe replaced him as leader of the woodlanders. He was killed in the first rebellion against Kotir, along with most of the other trained woodlanders. Barkstripe appeared in a vision to Sunflash along with Lord Brocktree and Boar the Fighter; they encouraged Sunflash to journey to Salamandastron to become a Badger Lord.
