Type III Ablative armor was a updated version of prior configurations and fashions integrated into the Ablative armor series. To say it simply: Type III Ablative Armor was configured of a more spacious and dispersing interior, a more interconnecting and sturdy metallic structure which still fit into the parameters of being "ablative". Allowing the kinetic damage to "rhythmically" and exceptionally spread across the armor, subsequently decreasing the yield and kinetic damage inflicted onto the armor.
